Learn From Our Mistakes : Series A Hit with Principals

Being a school leader can be a lonely job and it’s even more difficult when you experience leadership challenges. That’s why PrincipalsConnect began sponsoring panel discussions for principals to gain insight into our leadership mistakes and how we recovered.  During the first panel, Carol Hallquist shared how her business unit received some of the lowest morale scores in the company and how she turned it around in one year.  Judy Burge, known for her love of people and collaborative style shared how she made mistakes when transitioning from peer to leader.

Our second panel focused on how leaders change the culture of their organizations.  When at Hallmark, Diana Keating was the only female district manager in the sales division.  She shared how she won over staff who weren’t used to her leadership style and the challenge she had terminating a very popular employee. For first year principal Blake Rhyne, the sessions were reassuring.  “To see accomplished, successful leaders share their mistakes gave me confidence that I’m not alone in having bumps along the way.”

We plan to have a “Covid friendly” session this fall where principals and PC Advisers will share how they’ve instituted dramatic change programs in their schools and companies.
